Bungalow Kitchen: Slate Saga Continues to Day 3

When April abandoned me returned to parenting her five children, I was left to do the last bit of the floor myself.

It doesn’t look like much, but I will tell you: I have never been more grateful for the work April did, than while trying to figure out the last two (2!) diagonal tiles. It took me a full night, a few tears, and another day to get the back entry laid.

I trimmed and lay the Ditra without too much trouble. “I can do this!” I thought.

And 24 hours later I was finished.

Well, I was finished with the thin-set portion of the tile. Next up there is a lot of cleaning, and then I’ll be sealing, grouting, and sealing again.

  • It’s looking gorgeous! And, unfortunately, I’ve decided that most remodeling/repairs/reconstruction comes with tears in the mix at some point or another whether they’re from frustration/exhaustion/finished exhilaration. I’m still marveling at how fast the kitchen is progressing and how wonderful it looks! Give yourself pats on the back all the way around for everyone (including Xyla for providing moral support!)
