This is the new and improved version of the creepy built-in cupboards in the basement built sometime well before we moved in. I say “new and improved” because I spent the last weekend cleaning out the junk, cobwebs, and crumbled wall dust.
Wednesday I spent the day actually cleaning the house. As in, cleaning the living room of it’s mess.
Basically all the tools are going down stairs out of the utility closet and into their own storage space.
Small objects like screws, batteries, and felt pads were first organized into a container and then I put that container on the door.
I put up an scrap piece of door trim underneath the container, just for support, and called it good.
Inside the cupboard I made space for the various types of tools:
Power Tools and Accessories
Using one of the old kitchen knife magnetic strips that used to live in our kitchen, I put up some of the smaller metal tools that appreciate being sorted.
I hung the extension cord from an old hook that was sitting in one of several buckets of loose odds and ends. Some stuff was salvaged, per the hook, and some was tossed, like the stripped screws that couldn’t be thrown out for some reason.
In the end everything found a place.
The tile stuff went into a different cupboard that was also cleared out.
The painting and sheetrock supplies into another cupboard. And now all the tools live downstairs sorted and organized.
Now I guess it would be good to get back to the neglected utility closet.
